Can you smoke at Efteling?
To answer the question straight away: yes! You're allowed to smoke at Efteling. However, for a number of years now there have been a few strict rules you need to follow, both in the park and at the resorts (Efteling Hotel, Loonsche Land and Efteling Bosrijk).
Designated smoking areas
Efteling has a total of 10 smoking areas where smoking is permitted. Smoking isn't allowed anywhere else in the park. You'll usually find these areas alongside the paths, and you can recognise them by a round sign showing a cigarette. Outside the smoking areas in the park, you're also allowed to smoke in the car parks. Fancy a quick smoke in the queue for Baron 1898? Sadly, that's no longer possible.
Smoking at the Efteling resorts
Smoking is permitted at the Efteling resorts, but under strict conditions. If you're staying in a holiday home, you may only smoke on the terrace of your own accommodation or in one of the designated smoking areas on the holiday park. If you're staying in one of the hotels, smoking is only allowed in one of the designated smoking areas.
Vaping at Efteling
At Efteling, the same rules apply to vaping as to cigarettes etc. If you'd like to vape during your day at Efteling, you're only allowed to do so in the designated smoking areas. It's good to know that Efteling staff keep a close eye on smoking in the park. If you still choose to smoke in the queue for a ride, you run the risk of a staff member refusing you access to the attraction.
