A bit of history
The ‘Danse Macabre’ was originally a poem, which was later turned into a piece of music. At a later stage, the vocals were replaced by the iconic violin. This piece could be heard for many years in Spookslot, the predecessor of Danse Macabre.

Old music with a new twist
This park music has been re-recorded for the opening of Danse Macabre. Although it's an existing piece, composer René Merkelbach has added new elements that are sure to bring some surprises.
René Merkelbach is no stranger to Efteling: he has been creating music for the park since 1999. Among other things, he has written music for Symbolica, De Zes Zwanen and De Vliegende Hollander.
