Joris en de Draak
Joris en de Draak is a wooden dual racing roller coaster that opened in 2010 in Ruigrijk. In 2010, Joris en de Draak replaced Pegasus, which was also a wooden coaster. So what makes this coaster so special? You get to choose between the elements Water and Fire. Water and Fire race against each other. The big question is… who is fastest and defeats the dragon?
Take up the challenge:
Edna the dragon must be defeated! Do you dare? The brave soul who slays the dragon has a reward of a thousand and one ducats waiting for them. While you queue, you can hear the coaster trains roaring past. Pick your colour in the queue – will you go for Water (blue) or Fire (red)? In the station building, the king addresses you and urges you to prepare for the battle against the dragon. After the battle, victory is celebrated exuberantly in the station.
The story
A kingdom is terrorised every day by a fearsome dragon. The dragon demands sheep as offerings, and later even young girls! At his wits’ end, the king promises a thousand and one ducats to the hero who can defeat the dragon. Joris is the master of water and fire and manages to slay the dragon with a well-aimed lance through its heart. Instead of keeping the treasure for himself, he gives the ducats to the people of the town.
Water:
Do you believe in the power of the element water? Then choose Water and experience the wildest coaster ride of your life as you battle against Fire. Will your team claim victory?
Fire:
Are you ready for the most fiery battle of your life? Board Fire and feel the heat during the ride as you battle against Water. Will you defeat the fiery dragon and your rivals on Water?
Practical information
To take on Edna the dragon, you need to be 1.10 m tall. Dragon fighters between 1.10 and 1.20 m must be accompanied by someone aged 16 or over. Unfortunately, the attraction is not suitable for pregnant women or for people with medical conditions or injuries. For visitors’ convenience, the attraction has a baby switch and a single-rider queue for warriors who dare to face the dragon on their own. Please note that Joris en de Draak is closed in bad weather.
