De Sprookjesbibliotheek

De Sprookjesbibliotheek will be the 32nd fairy tale in the Efteling's Sprookjesbos and opens in 2027. An exact date has not yet been announced. The library is being built close to the spot where De Chinese Nachtegaal stood, towards the exit of the Sprookjesbos. The Siertuin from 1952 will simply stay where it is.

The building will be around 9 metres tall. Work began on 9 March 2026, and by July 2026 the foundations and framework were already in place.

Seven gnomes and a quiet gnome

The library holds all the books full of stories that the Sprookjessprokkelaar collected on his travels. Because he is often away, seven hard-working gnomes from all corners of the world keep the library tidy, cosy and complete. One of them is the quiet gnome, who makes sure the library stays peaceful.

De Sprookjesbibliotheek was designed by Jeroen Verheij.

And what about De Chinese Nachtegaal?

The building of De Chinese Nachtegaal was no longer in good condition. The old scene from 1999 could be seen up to and including 8 March 2026. In 2027 the fairy tale will return in a new form, right next to De Sprookjesbibliotheek. De Chinese Nachtegaal is one of the original ten fairy tales from 1952, which will always keep a place in the Sprookjesbos.
