Visiting Efteling with young children
A day out to the World of Wonders is one of the best trips you can take with your toddler or pre-schooler. There's plenty to do, such as discovering all the fairy tales in the Fairytale Forest or paying a visit to Jokie in Carnaval Festival.
Wondering how to make the most of your day at Efteling with your little one? We've put together a few tips for you.
The Sprookjesbos
Right at the top of the list is the Fairytale Forest. Wander together from one fairy tale to the next. There's lots to see, hear and sometimes even do. How about a ride through the castle of De Zes Zwanen?
You also shouldn't miss the open-air theatre. In these shows, the residents of the Fairytale Forest go on fun adventures full of song and dance.
Dark rides
A day at Efteling isn't complete without a ride on Droomvlucht. In this attraction you discover the world of elves and trolls. If elves aren't quite your thing, Symbolica is also highly recommended. There's plenty to see and do thanks to the interactive element of the ride. Please note: Symbolica is only accessible to little ones who can sit up on their own.
Fata Morgana is a classic, but it might still be a bit too scary. That's why we recommend heading to Reizenrijk. There, hop aboard Carnaval Festival to travel around the world with Jokie and Jet.
Playgrounds
Do you as a parent need a bit of a rest, but your youngsters don't? Efteling has plenty of playgrounds where you can keep an eye on the kids while enjoying a cup of coffee. Discover, for example, Kindervreugd and the Volk van Laaf in Marerijk.

Food and drink
In between all the running around, there should also be time for a tasty meal. How about a pancake at Polles Keuken or poffertjes at ‘T Poffertje? Restaurant Kashba is another option, with a special children's menu that includes a surprise.
For a quick bite, chips are of course available in several places, but De Smulpaap is a real must. Located next to the Anton Pieckplein, with its carousels and swing rides, it lets children get straight back to playing after their meal.
