Experience three parks in one resort on the Costa Dorada!
PortAventura World is a large theme park resort in Vila-seca near Salou in Catalonia. It has three parks: PortAventura Park, Ferrari Land and Caribe Aquatic Park. That makes it ideal for families and coaster fans who want to stay for a few days.
Attractions
PortAventura Park has six worlds: Mediterrània, Polynesia, China, México, Far West and SésamoAventura. Coaster fans will know Dragon Khan, Shambhala and Furius Baco, and on Tutuki Splash and Silver River Flume you'll get properly soaked. Ferrari Land is all about speed, with Red Force, which the park says is the tallest and fastest roller coaster in Europe. For little racers there are rides such as Junior Red Force, and Caribe Aquatic Park adds water slides and pools with a tropical feel.
Food and drink
Across the parks you'll find themed restaurants and quick snack spots. For example, you can eat American food at The Iron Horse in Far West and Mexican at La Cantina in México. Trattoria Maranello in Ferrari Land serves Italian. There are also vegetarian and vegan dishes and gluten-free options.

The resort has its own themed hotels, such as Gold River, Colorado Creek and Mansión de Lucy. According to the website, a stay at the resort's hotels includes access to the parks, so check the terms when you book.

Pack your swimming gear
Caribe Aquatic Park has water slides and pools and is mainly worth visiting in summer. Check the opening calendar beforehand so you don't turn up at a closed water park.
Entertainment
The show programme changes with the seasons. Regular names include the PortAventura Parade and dance shows such as México Lindo and Aloha Tahití. Throughout the year there are themed events around Carnival, Halloween and Christmas, and in Ferrari Land you can watch the Acrobatic Show.
Practical information
PortAventura World is in Vila-seca near Salou on the Costa Dorada in Catalonia and can be reached by car via the A-7. The resort also has its own railway stop on the R17 and RT2 lines of Rodalies de Catalunya. The easiest way to buy tickets is online. You can stay at the resort's own themed hotels, such as Hotel PortAventura and Hotel Caribe, or at one of the Ponient hotels nearby. Always check the opening calendar before you go.
